Unexpected Turn in Florida Police Chase as Man Makes Dirt Angels to Evade Capture

In a bizarre twist to a police chase in Tampa, Florida, a man was found making “dirt angels” in a construction site while allegedly attempting to evade law enforcement. The incident, which unfolded on Christmas Eve, began with a one-vehicle crash reported shortly after 7 p.m. in Hillsborough County.

Eliezer Armando Reyes Rios, 34, allegedly the driver involved in the crash, fled the scene on foot, according to authorities. Ignoring the deputy’s commands, Rios reportedly jumped a fence and entered a large construction site nearby.


The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, in a Facebook post, detailed how their aviation unit was dispatched to assist in the search. The unit successfully located Rios at the construction site, engaged in the unusual activity of making “dirt angels” and making phone calls.

However, the pursuit was far from over. Rios soon resumed his attempt to flee, jumping over another fence. His bid for escape was short-lived as law enforcement officers quickly detained him.
